" Hey honey, how's school today? I've heard from Mrs Stockington that your school will be having this great party this Friday, are you attending it?"Mum took the chicken-veg pizza out from the oven.
"Hi mum. Yes, I'll attending the party. It's kinda compulsory so leaves me no choice. Uh-erm, mum, can I talk to you for a second?" I shifted uncomfortably.
"What's the matter honey? Is there something wrong?" Mum placed the pizza down and gestured me to sit beside her. She looked worried. This made things worse. I didn't know how to bring up the topic.
"Erm...It's actually nothing. I just...I really don't have the outfit for the party and I'm kinda short of money now. I'm thinking whether you could help me?" I stared at my toes, trying hard not to blush. That wasn't the real problem. The real problem was me having loop holes in my memory. I couldn't remember what I did in school today and how I got back home. I couldn't recall the attack in school, not until Josh ran into me and told me that I was actually just a few metres away. I was simply freaked out. At first, I did blame those stupid medicine I'd taken to cure my over-sensitive-hyperactive illness but I took in the fact that those medicines did not affect me during the period I'd taken them so it didn't make any sense that the side effects would pop out now.
"Oh honey! I didn't realize you were worrying about that. Of course I'll help you. Let me see, take this 500 bucks to buy the nicest outfit and the most glamorous accessories to go with it." Mum smiled at me, waving me to eat the pizza.
I took my mum's Volvo and drove to the best and the biggest apparel shop and braced myself for the ultimate big shopping. Since I'd spun a tale of not having enough money and gotten myself a huge sum of money, I might as well make use of it. Party was never my thing. If it's not for the compulsory rule, I would have gladly missed it. As I was looking for a slot to park, I saw from far a guy with familiar features that sent jolt to my brains as well as chill to my skin. I waited and waited for the guy to walk past me...
To be continued...
